ok loves, tomorrow is boston bloggah happy hour, with a location change 30 hours in advance? ANNOYING. for boston folk, please be aware that events at beehive are lame. going there for a drink? awesome. planning a small meetup where your food and drink minimum is almost $2000? ABSURD. i can’t even begin to think of how people would react when i’m asking them to spend at least $60 at happy hour. (ok, i know these things have happened, especially with yours truly, BUT ARE YOU KIDDING ME?) all we need is some tables. and tables, we got. at cactus club. seriously, i’m all swoony just thinking about the margaritas. if anyone needs info, please let me know, i’m SUPER excited to see everyone.

in other news, family health is going downhill. i don’t really want to ramble on about it, but think good thoughts, ok? ok.

also on tap this week? the boston common tree lighting! grab some coffee and a bottle of bailey’s, kids. we’re going caroling. and brian mcknight will be there? hello, 1996. i so have a crush on you.

are we still layering? i want to break out a summer dress with my fav straight leg jeans (ok, maybe a lil boot cut). is that allowed? am i asking too many questions? yes. but really, i have a super cute outfit in my head, i just don’t know if it’s acceptable. eh, i don’t really care. cactus is a dark bar, right? i can’t find a photo that does my vision justice. hmph. if you say wear tights, i’ll punch you. fair warning.

sephora trip today was successful, as always. how in love with the NARS orgasm blush/bronzer duo am i? there are no words. seriously, it’s the most perfect colors EVER. and i like mentioning it while chatting with mom. she gets so mad at me. it’s kind of hilarious. how dare i say the o-word while on the phone!

ok, confession time. well, not a confession if you’re stalking on twitter or facebook. anyway, roomies and i got a professional cleaning service to come to our apartment. there’s 4 of us, we work crazy hours and sometimes, i want to sleep on saturdays or go play outside (am i 5?) instead of doing chores. i don’t fault myself for that. so we got a quote and for $200 a month (there is 4 of us, so $50 each for the non-math geniuses) we get the place cleaned every other week. the first cleaning was today. for the first hour i was home, one of the roomies and i just walked around the apartment, jaw open, in complete shock. this place has NEVER looked this good. everything sparkles. there isn’t a speck of dust. the stove? you could lick it. it’s that clean. i mean, i probably wouldn’t but the fact is YOU COULD. i’m in love. LOVE.

i could get into dumb ex bf stories too, but i’m too busy hoping he gets hit in the head by a brick. or 12. deep breath, em. deep breath.

folks, i’m not cut out for work. it’s true. the thought of waking up at 7am tomorrow and spending 8 hours behind a desk? i want to vomit in my mouth a little. ok, a lot. things that don’t help? the ginormous pile of dishes that i used while cooking dinner tonight. really, they should wash themselves.

in the past week, i only worked one day, so i apologize for the reality of sunday night turning me into a whiny pants. but vacation? i’m soooooo good at it. even when it involves putting up christmas trees (um, 3 in a span of 24 hours), eating turkey until i had to put on sweatpants, and sleep. oh my god, did i sleep. it was magical.

thanksgiving was good, i spent lots of time with the family generally relaxing. it was much needed. i laughed, a lot. and i spent the past day or so updated Kristen’s blogs about her wedding (um, it was amazing), so head over her way to check it out. let’s hope the link works this time, eh?

super thankful this year for blogger friends (seriously, you rock my socks…if i wore socks more often), my incredibly hilarious friends, lots of family time, and an incredible year of hugs, smiles, and happiness. jobs changed, life changed. we lost a lot but gained that much more.

Ok, so I’ve been rocking these earring for, um, 4 days now and I’m JUST getting around to blogging about them. Failures, I know. Anywho, Ashley from Our Little Apartment has a super cute Etsy shop. She obviously won me over with a sale, so over I went for two pairs of earrings (2nd pair 1/2 price for November!). Really, you just can’t go wrong with something like that. I grabbed the gray and the maroon-ish pair (which i LOVE) and it came in the cutest of boxes. Really, Ashley wins for packaging. =) (note, my iphone pictures – not good….haha)

Moral of this story, check out her blog, the shop, and buy some earrings, dammit! I’m sure I’ll be back soon to buy some more.

i’m packing. tomorrow begins the longest weekend of my life. really, every time there is a wedding involved, my life starts to go bananas. i don’t get it. anyway, cute boys in a band singing tomorrow. flying/wedding saturday. nyc/jersey sunday. boston monday. i could not be more excited to shed a tear at the wedding, dance until the dj cuts me off, and then hug my best friend sunday.

it’s been a long, trying week. i need some happy and this weekend is about to be full of it. happy weekend, lovies.

last week feels like a complete blur. i blame tequila. i woke up friday morning, realizing i am actually 28 and recovery from a night of boozing? takes until 2pm the next day. after a slice of greasy cheese pizza. but thursday? i loved thursday. i worked all day, rocked that super cute shirt from a post or two ago, and enjoyed the night. the show i worked? incredible. i needed some dance-y funk. i needed to feel it. it was an easy night. some new colleague-friends were there, it was perfect. i snuck away during the last set for a drink with one of them, the very attractive, very wonderful, married one. we stood in the dark corner of the bar, sipping tequila, and learning about each other. i think it was the first time we spent some quality one-on-one time, without facebook messages involved.

ladies and gentlemen, you find me an unavailable guy, i will reel him in. i did reel him in. i’m an idiot.

i wrapped up the show, chatted with some super cute folks about the show, hugged the tour manager (hi, i love my life sometimes) and headed back to the bar. why wouldn’t we stay there until 2am? why wouldn’t i have four more drinks? why wouldn’t we find ourselves flirting, away from the group? QUESTIONS I SHOULD HAVE GIVEN A BIG OL’ NO TO AT THE TIME. but i didn’t. i got a ride home, chatted in the car, made plans.

the next morning? ouch. i could not get out of bed. i could not find my advil (note, it was on the floor next to where it always is). i could not move. i felt old and gross. i pulled myself together, grabbed a breakfast sandwich at the ‘bucks (thank god for the bucks, for reals), a ginormous vitamin water, and sat at my desk staring into space until my boss came in for a meeting. on our way out, i see the reason for my hangover going to my office window to check on me. tells boss he “loaded me up with tequila” the night before. um, thanks. we laugh, go our own way, and the day drags on.

that night, it’s back to work. visitors come, the show is again – incredible. everything i need to make me feel like a normal human again. he is coming to the show and that’s cool. i’m running around with things to do and generally uncaring. i’m a mess, with hair piled on my head, a cardigan over a tshirt that does nothing flattering, but keeps me warm. it’s fine because he comes to the show. with his wife.

in this moment, it’s hilarious. i stood back and watched him brush her off. i watched the awkwardness of the entire situation. i may have given a disapproving look or two. i may have held his eyes longer than i should have. i laughed. i laughed at the absurdity. the lack of tequila induced blur. it was comical. and so was the apology text message.

some things will never ever change.

and now it’s sunday. i’m drinking coffee by the pot and reading my holiday real simple. enjoying some of my favorite tunes that i imported onto new baby macbook pro yesterday. hoping the sun comes out in time for me to head out for the afternoon. dinner in JP with the soon-to-be-married couple. in a week, i’ll be making a super short visit with my favorite person in nyc while recovering from dancing the night away at the wedding. oh, and no tequila, ok? ok.

the afternoon took me to the mall and really, why wouldn’t i tell you all about my purchases? HA. you’re intrigued, i know. or at least, fake it.

it’s funny, looking at that shirt on the website, it looks completely the opposite than in real life. anyway, i’m thinking of penning a letter to old navy where i express my love for ruffles, sequins, and the black/white/green thing they’ve got going on. i only grabbed this shirt because i wanted something to wear to work tomorrow – i’m holding off for anything else because i have a LOVELY 30% off friends and family coupon in my inbox. do you have one? do you need one? holler.

and that dress? that’s the dress i’m rocking to miss kristen’s wedding next week. gorgeous, right? right. the choice for wrap/cardigan is still up in the air but you know i eyed a gorgeous green cardigan while i was out. (it may be the twin of the black one i just purchased, just sayin.) but i’m torn on layering when the dress has a lace overlay. eh, i’m a good time. my outfit may be a bit wacky, but equally as good of a time. right? right. now if only my legs weren’t so pale. Hmph. OH and shoes! Must find shoes. Is it weird to start packing now? I feel like I need to.

kitten has been curled up next to new baby macbook pro all day. this family is doing well.

this is my new baby on the train. leaving that thing in it’s box until i got home was HORRIFIC. really, i almost curled up on the floor of the apple store to play. today, but some random act of god/mother nature/veterans around the world, i got paid a day early. EARLY! when this reality hit me (aka when i got the direct deposit email), i jumped out of bed, brushed my teeth, gave my bangs a quick straighten and was out the door.

i met a lovely genius at the apple store, who was super impressed by my mac knowledge, and we became instant friends. not even 20 minutes later, i was out the door, baby in hand. i wanted to skip down the street, to sing from the mbta stop, but i didn’t. and that self control? painful.

but, here we are. sitting on my bed, blogging and generally loving life. sigh. i’m so very happy. this morning, on the phone with mom, she reminded me to breathe. i had forgotten. i was practically floating to the train, ready to have my sanity back. friends, HP’s are not your friend. windows? not friends. this? LOVE. it even told me so itself.

a couple late nights this week at work, some homecoming activities this weekend, and then a HUGE show at work next week (really, ask me about this if you’re local – you should have gotten a facebook invite) and then a quick plane ride to long island, a wedding, and a king size bed. it’s the small joys in life, folks. happy wednesday. xoxo
